The feminist Domela Nieuwenhuis

On Vimeo on view now the trailer of the film *In Memory of 1871*. It's about the feminism of the Dutch Socialist Ferdinand Domela Nieuwenhuis. In the summer of 2018 the whole film was on display in the group show "Fertile Soil" in the barn of a potato farmer at OudeBildtdijk in Friesland. Next at a Museum in Leer in Germany and at EXPOOST in Hoorn. In my project To Draw Politically I worked together with the soundartist and actress Roberta Petzoldt. On the opening of my soloshow at Witzenhausengallery in 2013 she did a performance De Johanna’s. Roberta was the model for the first wife of the Dutch socialist Ferdinand Domela Nieuwenhuis, his beloved Johanna. I drew a monumental drawing on Nieuwenhuis with the title Ter Herinnering 1871 and Roberta was acting in front of this drawing and a hoop-skirt was hanging in the gallery. Her text on Johanna the Loving, in Chains and the Fighter is on page 135 to page 139 in my artist book "Innocent". The super giant drawing *In Memory of 1871* is in the collection of the Fries Museum. Click this link to view the trailer
